Everyone agrees that spending quality time with your partner is the best gift you can give them. It may be cliché, but it’s true! You can watch some of the best Valentine’s Day movies or do Valentine’s Day crafts at home if you’re looking for something to do. There’s sure to be at least one suggestion here that works for you and your spouse, whether you want a night out or want to recreate your first date (attending a comedy show, anyone?). Undoubtedly, buying a Valentine’s Day gift would be lovely. However, sometimes it’s the little things that matter the most. For instance, consider Ree and Ladd Drummond. They simply bought each other hot chocolate one year as they returned from Colorado. It’s possible that The Pioneer Woman ate both whipped cream dollops. (That, in our opinion, is love.)

It’s not necessary for a date to be expensive or fancy to be memorable. Spending time with your favorite individual should be the main focus. Let the romance begin by expressing your love with one of these Valentine’s Day date ideas!

Romantic Dinner

Dinner

Valentine’s Day special meals are being served at other nearby establishments. Here are a couple of the town’s most appetizing-sounding dishes.

The annual Winter Wine Party will be held at Brix Cheese Shop and Wine Bar on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. if you want to do something fun before the holiday. 20 different wines will be available to sample at the $50 per person event, which will also include a chocolate and cheese buffet. I can’t think of anything better than wine, chocolate, and cheese. A five-course prix fixe menu from Devotay will cost $65 per person with wine pairings. A dark chocolate starter, aubergine gratin with shiitake mushrooms and yellow squash, lamb chop with braised Brussels sprouts and pinot noir caramel, and dark chocolate-covered butternut cake are among the dishes.

The five-course Valentine’s dinner at Baroncini Ristorante will cost $59 per person and include a glass of wine. Menu items include the leg of lamb with caramelized garlic and roasted cauliflower rosemary puree, as well as fried mozzarella stuffed with mushroom and truffle over a basil sauce and house-made fregola pasta with lobster and peppers.

There will also be Valentine’s dinners at other popular Iowa City establishments like Pullman, Clinton Street Social Club, and Rapid Creek Cidery, however, the menus have not yet been released. Make sure there is still space for you and your date by calling in advance.

Naughty cookies from Deluxe

Cookies

The conversation heart sugar cookies created at Deluxe are perhaps my favorite Valentine’s Day custom in Iowa City. Yes, you can get bespoke cookies with highly dirty and vulgar phrases on them in addition to really cute messages like “Be Mine,” “Bae,” or “Maybe Tonight.” The cost per cookie is $2.50. To purchase cookies or place a custom order, visit the store in person or give them a call at 319-338-5000. Everyone deserves to eat a good old-fashioned cookie with a bawdy message scrawled on it, whether they are single or in a committed relationship.

Big Grove Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s Day was first featured in a single episode of the NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation,” but it has since grown into an unofficial holiday observed the day before Valentine’s Day. Its objective is to honor all of a woman’s female friends. Large Grove Galentine’s Day is being celebrated in Iowa City with a gathering fit for all the female friends a lady could have. Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. Big Grove will host a Galentine’s Day celebration with bubbly cocktail deals, waffle fries, and a music playlist that features a lot of female artists. The event is free, however, there will be a cost for food and beverages.
